Visakhapatnam, also known as Vizag, attracts a large number of tourists to the state. This city is not only popular among the people of Andhra Pradesh but also the rest of India. The Buddhist heritage of the city dates back to the reign of Mauryan Emperor Ashoka. It also finds a place in the modern chapter of Indian history as it is the headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.

Visakhapatnam History
History of Visakhapatnam is the most developed state in terms of area and the seventh largest city in India. It covers an area of nearly 544 km² in south-eastern India. It is surrounded by the Eastern Ghats to the south, north and west, while the Bay of Bengal protects it to the east.
The city also includes a small fishing village near the harbor, famous for its variety of seafood. The city has the safest port, which connects the mineral chain of the central region with the east coast.
It also has a growing industrial base in Andhra Pradesh, next to Amaravati, which is now the capital after the partition of the state. Visakha is the safest port in Asia. Local legend says that the history of Visakhapatnam is linked to the reign of the Andhra King (9th-11th century) through his gratitude to the peaceful Benares there.

Aeronautical Museum TU 142
Don’t miss the opportunity to see the exhibition at the TU 142 Aircraft Museum. The popular film features a protected Tupolev Tu-142, a Russian naval patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft.
The Indian Navy has operated this model Tu-142 for almost 30 years without any accidents. He retired in March 2017 and the Andhra Pradesh government later decided to retain him.
Museum of Submarine
The Submarine Museum, beautifully displayed against the beautiful backdrop of Ramakrishna Beach. While walking on RK Beach, you can go out and stop to find the only museum in all of Asia. The submarine of INS Kurusura is a Soviet submarine I-641, which was decommissioned after 31 years of service and became an interesting museum for the public.

Caves
The Borra Caves are located about 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Visakhapatnam in the Ananthagiri Mountains of the Eastern Ghats, India. The caves are among the largest in the country and sit at an altitude of about 705 meters (2,313 ft). The British geologist William King discovered them in 1807 and they are a natural creation, which is believed to be 150 million years old.
This place has karst structures and timeless stalactites and stalagmites. The interior of these caves is lit by mercury 63, sodium vapor and halogen lamps.
