Best Things to Do In Ronda
Ronda’s location is spectacular, one of the main reasons to visit. Now part of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, Ronda is located on the El Tajo River, which divides the city. Ronda was ruled as early as the 6th century! The Celts, Phoenicians and Romans lived successively in Ronda.
The Berbers took control in the 8th century and called it Hisn-Ar Rundah (Castle of Rundah), and this is where Ronda got its name. In the 15th century, the Christians took over Ronda.
Today, Ronda is a popular destination in the south of Spain: the third most visited city in Andalusia. With its amazing historical sites, unique views, excellent restaurants and beautiful bodegas, Ronda is easily one of the most beautiful places to visit in Spain.
WALK ALAMEDA DEL TAJO
Just behind the Plaza de Toros in the Ville Nouvelle is the beautiful 19th-century park, Alameda del Tajo. Start your exploration of Ronda by walking around the park.
The walk is especially beautiful if you go on it in the spring, when pink and white flowers cover the trees along the road. It’s also great in the fall when the leaves change color.

Walk down Calle Tenorio to Plaza de Maria Auxiliadora, where you will find a path with steps leading into the canal. In the spring, the path is covered with beautiful forest trees. If you go down the path, you will come to a few viewpoints from where you will have a wonderful view of the bridge, the waterfall and the river.
From these points, you can fully understand the height of the Puente Nuevo at 328 feet and the work that was done to build it all years ago.
Climbing the mountain peaks of RONDA
Walking in Ronda is a pleasure in itself, and looking at the cave, I never thought you would get close to it with your hands and feet. But you can!
We hiked up a bit, then used the climbing gear and tried to descend the valley. It must be one of the most unique things you can do in Ronda and it’s fun. In addition, the view of the bridge is second to none. If you don’t feel like climbing, you can pack a picnic and head down the highway. Be sure to save energy for the climb!
VISIT ONE OF THE OLDEST SPANISH BULLS
Ronda is famous for hosting the oldest bullring in Europe, “Plaza del Toros”, built in neoclassical style by a brotherhood in 1785. It accommodates 5000 people.
Today, fighting habits are changing in Spain and today, there are only three fights a year in Ronda, with less than ten percent of fights in Spain every year.
Regardless of how brutal the game is, there is no doubt that it is an important part of the history of Spain and therefore the horror is an interesting place to visit in Ronda.
The King of Spain now does not use a royal box, which shows how the thinking is changing. Ronda’s bullring is now used as a riding school, which coincides with the beginning of bullfighting in Spain, when soldiers were on horseback.
WILL WALK IN THE WAYS OF THE CITY
Walking around Ronda is the best way to spend an afternoon. The oldest Moorish part of the city, La Ciudad, is made up of whitewashed buildings and churches. The new part, El Mercadillo, has wide streets and houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
