Kodavas: A relation of heroes

Kodavas originated from Kodagu (Coorg) for a long time. . It was the warriors and farmers who guarded their land and are the leaders of the community in the region to this day. They speak “Kodava takk” (Kodava language) which is known only by the people of this region. The Kodavas also have a unique traditional dress. Now there is none. The Karnataka government and the Ministry of Railways have plans to build a railway station in the town of Kushalnagar in Coorg, but local residents and environmentalists are opposing a railway line that runs through forests and roads. the path of elephants, which will harm the environment and make it more expensive. Human-elephant conflict is a problem in Coorg.

Bus stops:

The four bus stations in Coorg are Madikeri, Virajpet, Gonikoppa and Kushalnagar. If you are taking a bus to Coorg, make sure to take the early morning bus from Bangalore to Coorg, the reason being that most of the accommodation and hotels have check-in times. of 12:00 or later. If you take an overnight bus from Bangalore to Coorg, you will reach Coorg early in the morning. During such hours, you may not find rickshaws or taxis in the area and you may end up spending your time at the bus stop. If you plan to arrive early in the morning in Coorg, make sure you talk to your accommodation manager about early check-in and travel options. Coorg is a residential city. Many hostels have a limited number of rooms and if they are booked, they will wait for guests to leave during the day before they can let other guests in. Also, check-in early in the morning is not enjoyable as the accommodation is working with a small staff, the owner and staff are resting or concentrating on other morning tasks.
